Raspberry moon

Begonia, 'Raspberry Moon' is a striking rhizomatous begonia celebrated for its colorful foliage and attractive, mounding growth habit. Its rounded leaves display shades of silver and raspberry pink, highlighted by dark charcoal veining and margins that create exceptional contrast. The undersides of the leaves are a deep red, adding further visual interest when viewed from different angles.

In my experience, this cultivar grows best in bright, indirect light and benefits from moderate ambient humidity. My mother plant is positioned approximately one foot away from a T5 grow light, where it receives bright conditions for 14 hours a day. I find that under these brighter light levels, it grows faster, develops a fuller, more symmetrical form, and exhibits stronger coloration. The plant also performs exceptionally well in my growing environment at approximately 60% ambient humidity.

One particularly interesting characteristic ofRaspberry Moon' is the subtle blue iridescent flash that can appear along the outer leaf margins when grown under lower light conditions. While it tolerates lower light, immature plants may become stretched or leggy if light levels are insufficient. For the most compact growth and best foliage presentation, brighter indirect light is recommended.

Allowing the upper layer of the potting mix to dry slightly between waterings has worked well for my plant, helping maintain healthy roots while encouraging steady growth. Because this plant is rhizomatous, it is sensitive to overwatering and will be a bit more drought tolerant.
