Begonia Burkillii (Silver Edge Form)

Begonia burkillii (Silver Edge Form) is a remarkable species begonia native to northeastern India and highly valued among collectors for its distinctive foliage and unique floral display. This particular silver-edged selection was propagated from seed originating from plants introduced into cultivation through the efforts of dedicated begonia enthusiast and plant explorer Rekha Morris. Selected for its exceptional ornamental qualities, this form features striking leaves adorned with broad silver margins and expansive silver markings that contrast beautifully against the deeper green background.

As a dioecious species, Begonia burkillii produces male and female flowers on separate plants.  To thrive, Begonia burkillii (Silver Edge Form) benefits from consistently warm, humid conditions and is best suited to a greenhouse, terrarium, or other controlled environment with elevated humidity. My mother plant thrives in higher humidity over 75% and is about 1.5 foot from a t5 grow light. The dark portions of the leaf will flash iridescent blue when grown in lower lighting.
